The Sinclair Enterprise (October 1977) and Enterprise Programmable (July 1978) were among the last generation of calculators with red LED displays. They represented Sinclair's final attempt to regain the company's position in a market increasingly becoming dominated by more power-efficient Japanese-made LCD calculators. Neither calculator was a great success and both ended up being sold at a loss. At the time, Sinclair was being propped up by a government agency, the National Enterprise Board, hence the name of the calculators.
