Selling Sinclair:
How Sinclair Sold His Products

How did a relatively small company like Sinclair Research - which even at the peak of its success only employed about 140 people - gain such a prominent place in the electronics market? How did Clive Sinclair himself become "Uncle Clive", a national icon and darling of the "enterprise generation" of the 1980s? The answer was, quite simply, marketing. Sinclair's sales methods were simple and highly effective. The company's advertising was innovative and eyecatching - in quite a few instances, the adverts were arguably better than the products they were selling!

This section looks at Sinclair's marketing methods - and mistakes - and provides an expanding gallery of Sinclair adverts over the past 40 years.
